Detailed Solution

A metal ball of 4 kg is dropped from a height of 2.5 m. The kinetic energy of the ball when it strikes the ground will be 98 J
The velocity of the ball of mass 4 kg when dropped from 2.5m of height can be calculated by
v2 = u2 + 2 gh
Given,
Initial velocity, u = 0,
g=9.8 m/s2,
height, = 2.5 m
So, = 7 m/s
Now, Kinetic Energy is a form of energy that an object of mass (m) or body has due to virtue of its motion and is formulated as
K.= 12 mv2 Where = mass of the object and = velocity
K.= 12 × 4 × 72
          98 J
So, when the ball strikes back on the ground, its kinetic energy will be 98 J.
