A=length×breadth A=8cm×5cm   A=40 cm 2  
Length of the painting without margin is,
L=8 cm(1.5 cm+1.5 cm)   L=(83)cm   L=5cm   Breadth of the painting without margin is,
B=5 cm(1.5 cm+1.5 cm)   B=(53)cm   B=2cm  
Area of the painting not including the margin is,
=5 cm×2cm   =10c m 2   Area of the margin is,
A = Area of the cardboard including the margin – Area of the painting
A=(4010) cm 2   A=30  cm 2  
Therefore, area of the margin is 30c m 2  .
