or $4 = u + \frac{5 a}{2}$

$5 = u + \frac{a}{2} (2 \times 4 - 1)$

or $5 = u + \frac{7 a}{2}$

Subtracting, $1 = \frac{7 a}{2} - \frac{5 a}{2} = \frac{2 a}{2} = a$
