A particle having a velocity$v=v_0$ at t = 0 is decelerated at the rate $\left|a\right|=\alpha \sqrt{v}$ where $\alpha$ is a positive constant. 

(a) $a=-\alpha \sqrt{v}$

     $\therefore$                        $\frac{dv}{dt}=-\alpha \sqrt{v}$

       or                       ${\int }_0^{t}dt=-\frac{1}{\alpha }{\int }_{v_0}^0{v}^{-1/2}.dv$

      $\therefore$                             $t=\frac{2\sqrt{v_0}}{\alpha }$  

(d) $a=-\alpha \sqrt{v}$

       $\therefore$                          $v.\frac{dv}{ds}=-\alpha \sqrt{v}$

       $\therefore$                          ${\int }_0^{s}ds=-\frac{1}{\alpha }{\int }_{v_0}^0{v}^{1/2}dv$

       $\therefore$                                 $s=\frac{2v_0^{3/2}}{3\alpha }$
