They were traditional dairymen in the area who provided milk and cheese to the rajas' palace (king). Maldharis are people who own animals, breed them and herd them. They have a simple life in a modest mud hut. They are descended from nomadic people who migrated from Rajasthan and Gujarat. They kept livestock, including camels, buffalo, sheep, goats, and cows.
