A path separates two walls. A ladder leaning against one wall rests at a point on the path. It reaches a height of 90 m on the wall and makes an angle of 60 °   with the ground. If while resting at the same point on the path, it were made to lean against the other wall, it would have made an angle of 45 °   with the ground. Find the height it would have reached on the second wall.

We have to find the height reached by the same on the second wall.
Suppose, AB=90 m   be the height of the wall and X=AE=DE   be the be the length of the ladder. Assume the height it would have when it reached the second wall be DC. Then, by using the figure geometry,

sinθ = AB AE sin 60 ° = 90 x 3 2 = 90 x x = 180 3   In triangle DCE,
sinθ = DC DE sin 45 ° = DC x 1 2 = DC 180 3 DC =30 6  m  
The height is 30 6  m   .
