Detailed Solution

Given, a person wanted to sell a scooter with 25% loss. But at the last moment, he changed his decision and sold the scooter with a 20% loss.
Let the cost price of the scooter be ₹ x.
The selling price if he sells for 25% loss = x + 25% of x.
           = x + 0.25x
           = 1.25x
The selling price if he sells for 20% loss = x + 20% of x.
           = x + 0.20x
           = 1.20x
Difference between these selling prices is 1.25x - 1.20x = 0.05x.
0.05x = 4000
x = 40000.05
x = ₹ 80000
Hence, the cost of the scooter is ₹ 80000.
So, option 2 is correct.
