In order to lift the plywood up from the table, we need to blow air in sideways, which means parallel to the surface of the table. This will create a low-pressure area above the plywood and will be blown down away by the wind which is coming from the low-pressure area. When air moves with increased speed, its pressure drops, and the pressure reduces when air moves with high speed.
