Concept- As given in the question one pineapple cost Rs.

and one watermelon cost Rs.

X spends Rs.

On purchasing these two fruits now we need to find how many pineapples he purchased. According to the given question Cost of watermelon is Rs.

Cost of pineapple is Rs.

Total money he spends on fruits is Rs.

Let assume the number of pineapple purchased is

Then, money spend on pineapple will be

Now, let assume the number of watermelon purchased is

Then, money spend on watermelon will be

So , now we can conclude that Total money spent = money spend on watermelon + money spend on pineapples

After further solving, we can say that:

7 x = 38 - 5 y

x = \frac{38 - 5 y}{7}

The no. of pineapples purchased should be a whole number. So 38-5y should be a multiple of 7 to get a whole number.
Only when n is 2, the no. of pineapples purchased will be a whole number. Therefore y=2.
The value of y is

m = \frac{38 - 5 (2)}{7}

m = \frac{28}{7}

m = 4
The no. of pineapples purchased is 4 and the no. of watermelons purchased is 2.
