$\frac{1}{f} = (μ - 1) (\frac{1}{R_{1}} - \frac{1}{R_{2}}); \frac{1}{f_{1}} = (μ_{1} - 1) (\frac{1}{\infty} - \frac{1}{- R}) = \frac{μ_{1} - 1}{R}$

Similarly, for the other plano-concave lens

$\frac{1}{f_{2}} = (μ_{2} - 1) (\frac{1}{- R} - \frac{1}{\infty}) = \frac{- (μ_{2} - 1)}{R}$

from the relation of magnitude of focal lengths we get
