It is given that the number is multiplied by 5 2  and 2 3  is added to the product, the result is 7 12  .
Let x be the rational number then the equation will be,
5x 2 + 2 3 = 7 12  
Simplify the above equation,
5x 2 = 7 12 2 3   Taking LCM of 7 12   and 2 3  .
5x 2 = 72×4 12  
5x 2 = 78 12    5x 2 = 15 12  
Using crisscross multiplication,
x= 15 12 × 2 5    x= 3 6  
Divide the factor by 2,
x= 1 2  
Hence, the rational number is 1 2  .
