A ray of light entering into a prism from air bends twice towards the base.
When white light passes through a prism, the light is refracted from a rarer medium(air) to a denser medium (glass prism), and it bends towards normal, i.e., towards the base of the prism. After that, the light ray refracted from denser to rare medium (glass to air), and it bends from the normal, i.e., towards the base of the prism.
