A rectangle lawn is 130m 120m. It has 2 roads each 2m. wide running in the middle of it, one parallel to breadth and other to the length. Find the total cost of planting grass on both the roads at the rate of Rs. 150 per square meter.

Length, $\mathrm{l}=130\mathrm{m} ;$ Breadth b=120m
Length of 1st road = 130m
Breadth = 2m
$\therefore \mathrm{Area}=\mathrm{l}\times \mathrm{b}$
 

= 130 x 2 = 260m²
Length of 2nd road = 120m
Breadth = 2m
$\therefore \mathrm{Area}=120\times 2=240{\mathrm{m}}^2$
Common area of two roads $=2\times 2=4{\mathrm{m}}^2$
Total Area of two roads  $=260{\mathrm{m}}^2+240{\mathrm{m}}^2-4{\mathrm{m}}^2$
 = 496m²
Cost per square meter of grass = Rs. 150
$\therefore \mathrm{Total} \mathrm{cost}=496\times 150$
= Rs. 74,400
