Given-
Length (l) of a room= 5m.
Breadth (b) of a room= 4m.
Height (h) of a room= 3m.
Cost of whitewashing per m²= Rs. 7.50
To find- the cost of whitewashing the walls of the room and ceiling.
Surface area (SA) of 4 walls= 2(l +b)h, where l is the length, b is the breadth and h is the height of the cuboid.                        -eq.(1)
Put the given value of ‘l’, ‘h’ and ‘b’ in eq.(1).
The surface area of 4 walls= 2(5+4)×3  m 2  
⇒SA=2(9)×3  m 2   ⇒SA=18×3  m 2   ⇒SA=54 m 2                         -eq.(2)
Now, we find the area of the ceiling by,
Area of the ceiling =l×b   ⇒Area=5×4 ⇒Area=20 m 2                 -eq(3)  
Add the equation (2) and (3) to find the total area to be whitewashed.
Total area to be white washed= 54  m 2 +20  m 2   ⇒  Total area to be white washed =74 m²                        -eq.(5)
We will multiply equation (5) with the given cost of whitewashing per m 2   to find the total cost of whitewashing.
Total cost of white washing= Rs7.50×74   ⇒  Total cost of white washing= Rs 555
Cost of whitewashing the walls of the room and ceiling at the rate of Rs 7.50 m 2   is Rs555.
Hence, option 3 is the correct option.
