If a sample of ethane (C2H6) gas has the same mass as 1.5 ×1020 molecules of methane (CH4), then the number of C2H6  molecules present in gas is 8 ×1019.

If 1 mole = 6.022 × 1023 molecules of methane then 1.5 × 1020 molecules of methane will contain,

Moles = Total number of particles/ Avogadro number of particles

Moles = Total number of particlesAvogadro number of particles

= 1.5 × 10226.02 × 2023 Moles

1.5 × 1020 Molecules of methane = 2.49 × 10-4 moles

The molar mass of CH4 =16g
Mass of methane = Molar mass × Number of moles
Mass of methane = 16 × 2.49 × 10-4
Mass of methane = 3.984 × 10-3g
Mass of C2H6 = 30
30 g or 1 mole  of ethane contains 6.02 × 1023 molecules
So,
Number of molecules of ethane = 3.984 × 10-3 × 6.02 × 102330
Number of molecules of ethane = 8×1019
