A saree is 5 m long and 1.2 m wide. A border of 0.1 m is printed along its 4 sides. Find the cost of printing, if the border costs at Rs 2 per m²?

Given, length of saree = 5m

width of saree = 1.2 m

border = 0.1 m

Area of saree = l x b = 5 x 1.2 = 6 m²

Area of saree with border = l x b = (5 + 0.1 + 0.1) x (1.2 + 0.1 + 0.1) = 5.2 x 1.4 = 7.28 m²

Area of border = area of saree with border - area of saree

            =7.28 - 6 = 1.28 m²

As cost of printing for 1m² = Rs. 2

So, cost of printing for 1.28m² = 1.28 x 2 = Rs. 2.56
