A saturated solution is defined as-

 Solute is added to a solvent to prepare a solution. The solution can be classified as dilute, concentrated or saturated depending on the amount of solute present.

When at a particular temperature a solution has dissolved the maximum amount of solute it can take and thus no more solute can be further added to that solution, then such a solution is known as a saturated solution.
