Many people in India are still without food because of poverty. Some people are poor, so they cannot buy food even if it is available in plenty. The government provides food for these people at a lower rate through rationing. But often, this food is not up to the mark, is not nutritious and is not of good quality. The buffer stocks are mostly present in the states where the production of food grains is very high, but there is no proper infrastructure to shift and circulate these food grains to parts of the country that require them.
