  Concept- Firstly, we’ll assume the cost of the shirt to be x and the cost of the belt to be y. Form the equations as per the conditions given in question. Let, the cost of shirt be x The cost of belt be y
The first equation as per the given condition: A shirt costs Rs. 12 more than 1 belt
⇒x=12+y -(i)
The second equation as per the given condition: The total costs of 2 shirts and 5 belts is Rs.164.
⇒2x+5y=164 -(ii)
Now, substitute the value of x from eq.(i) in eq.(ii)
⇒2(12+y)+5y=164      ⇒24+2y+5y=164
⇒24+7y=164
⇒7y=164-24
⇒y=

\frac{140}{7}

⇒y=20
Thus, the cost of 1 belt is Rs. 20.
Hence, correct answer is 1) Rs. 20
