The absorption rate of water by soil can be calculated b y the formula:
Absorption rate = -(V1) initial volume of water
⇒Final volume of water(V2) =volume water mass of soil×100
                          V2-V1mass of soil×100
⇒Given, initial volume of water = 100ml
⇒Final volume of water = 80ml
⇒Mass of the soil taken from agricultural land = 50g
⇒Therefore, percentage absorbed =100-8050×100 = 40%
