A sponge is an example of a solid. 

A sponge has a definite volume and a definite shape. Also, there is a space between the particles of the sponge in which air is trapped. When we compress the sponge, the air between the gap gets removed and we can easily compress it. But as soon as we remove the force, the sponge regains its shape.
