Detailed Solution

A States Reorganisation Commission was set up, which submitted its report in 1956.
Following the establishment of Andhra, other linguistic communities demanded their separate states. A States Reorganisation Commission was formed, and its report was submitted in 1956, recommending that district and provincial boundaries be redrawn to form compact provinces of Assamese, Bengali, Oriya, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu speakers, respectively. North India's large Hindi-speaking region was divided into several states. Later, in 1960, Bombay's bilingual state was divided into separate states for Marathi and Gujarati speakers. In 1966, the state of Punjab got divided into Punjab and Haryana, with the former Punjabi speakers (mostly Sikhs) and the latter (who spoke Haryanvi or Hindi rather than Punjabi).
