Mode=I+f1-f02f1-f0-f2h, where, I is the lower limit of the modal class, f1 is the frequency of the modal class, f0 is the frequency of the class preceding the modal class, f2 is the frequency of the class succeeding the modal class, and h is the class size.
Modal class will be the class which has the highest frequency.
It is observed that the maximum frequency is 20.
The modal class is, 40-50
Therefore, I=40,f1=20,f2=11,f0=12 and h=10 .
So, the mode of the given data is,
mode=40+20-122(20)-12-1110
mode=40+8017
mode=40+4.7
mode=44.7
Therefore, the mode of the data is 44.7.
Hence, option 1 is the correct answer.
