(A) Suitable method for preparation of primary amine is when haloalkane is treated with excess of NH₃.
(R) In this reaction primary, secondary, tertiary amines are formed.

Aliphatic amines can be prepared by heating alkyl halides with an aqueous or alcoholic ammonia solution in excess in asealed tube at 373K.This is a nucleophilic substitution reaction.

If a large excess of an alkyl halide is present in the reaction mixture,primary amine obtained reacts further with alkyl halide and 2⁰and 3⁰  amines are formed.
