A termite is a social insect that forms colonies.

Termites are social insects and construct a society, or colony which is a highly organized integrated unit. They have a caste system with a division of labour based on the structure of the colony,  function, and behaviour.

The major castes in the colony include the reproductive, soldier, and worker castes.

The queen and king are fertile and reproductive while the workers and soldiers are sterile.
