Given, l=100m, radius r , then self inductance of thin copper wire,

L=μ0N2Al  i.e., 2πrN=100

Similarly same length of wire is wound as a solenoid of length l of radius r/2, then its self inductance will be L'=μ0N'2(A/4)l So, 2πr2N'=100N'=2N

L'=μ0(2N)2(A/4)l____(ii)

On comparing self-inductance of equations(i) and (ii), we get L' = L
