A third tier of government is called local government.
The third tier of federalism, known as Local Government, was also added in the form of Panchayats and Municipalities. Gram Panchayat is the village level, Panchayat Samiti is the block level, and Zila Parishad is the district level. Local governments are recognized and protected by the 73rd and 74th constitutional amendments, and each state has its local government legislation. Local government in India has taken two distinct forms since 1992. Urban localities have Nagar Palika but derive their powers from individual state governments, whereas rural localities' powers have been formalized under the Panchayati raj system.
