Detailed Solution

A Train travels at two speeds 40 km/h and 46.67 km/h during its whole journey. It travels a distance of “x” km at 30 km/h in one hour and a distance of “y” km at 46.67 km/h in 1.5 hours. The value of x and y is 30 km and 70 km and value of average speed is 40 km/h.
Speed =  DistanceTime
It is given that train travels a distance of “x” kilometre at 30 km/h in one hour and a distance of “y” km at 46.67 km in 1.5 hours
∴ 30=x1
 x=30 km      ……….(1)
and 46.67=y1.5
            y=70 km     ………..(2)
Now,
Average speed =Total distance travelledTotal time taken
Total distance travelled =30+70
                                      =100 km
Total time taken =1+1.5
                           =2.5 h
Average speed =1002.5
                        =40 km/h
