Detailed Solution

Concept: Genotype is the sum total of the genetic material that is present inside the cells of an organism. the entire genetic makeup of the organism is culminated into its genotype. The genes from the parents are transferred to the progeny and the phenomenon is called inheritance.

A trihybrid cross can be described as the type of cross in which three phenotypic characteristics on an organism are being studied. According to the question the cross is being made between plants that have a heterozygous genotype. The genotype is AaBbCc. The number of variety of gametes that can be produced by this plant can be calculated by 2n, where n denotes the number of heterozygous alleles present in the parent. In this case the number of heterozygous alleles present are three.

Hence, 23 = 8.

The number of different type of gametes formed is 8 and the total offspring that will be formed is 8*8 = 64.

In this trihybrid cross with heterozygous parents, the possibility of having a homozygous recessive offspring is 1/64.
Hence, the correct answer is A.
