A truck of mass 1000 kg is moving with a velocity of 10 m/s and is acted upon by a forward force of 1000 N due to the engine and retarding force of 500 N. The velocity after 10 sec will be 15 m/s.
Mass =1000 kg
The initial velocity of the bike = 10 m/s Time = 10 s
Retarding force = 500 N (in backward direction)
Applied force = 1000 N (in forward direction)
In order to find the velocity we need to find the value of the acceleration first,
The acceleration of the bike is in the forward direction. Therefore, using F=ma a=F-fm
  a=1000-5001000
  a=0.5 ms-2
Now using v=u+at, where v represents final velocity
  v=10+0.5 ×10
  v=15 m/s
