Given a verandah of width 2.25 m is constructed all along outside a room which is 5.5 m long and 4 m wide.
Area of the room is,
Area = Length × Breadth

= 5.5 m × 4 m = 22 m 2

Length of room after including verandah
= 5.5 + 2.25 + 2.25
= 10m
Breadth of room after including verandah
= 4 + 2.25 + 2.25
= 8.5m
Area of room including verandah is

= 10 m × 8.5 m = 85 m 2

Area of verandah is
= Area of room including verandah - Area of the room
= 85 – 22
= 63

Area = 63m².
Cost of cementing is
