Question Image

Let  DC be the vertical tower and  AD be the vertical flagpole

Let B be the point of observation

Given that  AD=18m,ABC=60°,DBC=30°

Let  DC be 'h',  BC=x

tan30°=DCBC

13=hBC

13=hx

x=3h(1)

tan60°=ACBC

3=AD+DCBC

3=18+hx(2)

From (1) and (2)

3x=18+h

3(3h)=18+h

3h=18+h

3hh=18

2h=18

h=182

h=9

 height of the tower is 9 meters.
