Detailed Solution

A vessel in the form of a hemispherical bowl is full of water. The contents are emptied into a cylinder. The internal radii of the bowl and cylinder are respectively 6 cm and 4 cm. The height of water in the cylinder is 9cm.
It is given that the volume of water in the hemisphere bowl = volume of water in the cylinder.
Internal radii of bowl=6cm.
Internal radii of cylinder=4cm.
The volume of hemispherical bowl is,
V 1 = 2 3 π r 1 3
2 3 π×6×6×6 144π
The volume of the cylinder,
  V 2 =π r 2 2 h
π (4) 2 h 16πh
Equating both the volumes,
144π=16πh h= 144π 16π h=9cm
Therefore, the final answer is 9 cm.
