Given as follows,
A wall of a room is of dimensions = 5 m × 4 m.
Window’s dimensions = 1.5 m × 1m
Door’s dimensions = 2.25 m × 1m.
We know that the area of a rectangle is obtained as a product of its length and its breadth.
So, the total area will definitely exclude the area of the door and the window.
So, we have the total area to be painted as,
= Total area of the wall – (Area of the door +Area of the window)
The total area to be painted is as follows,

= (5 × 4) − (2.25 × 1) + (1.5 × 1) = 20 − 2.25 + 1.5 = 20 − 3.75 = 16.25

Therefore, the total area of the wall to be painted is obtained as

16 .25m 2

.
Hence, the correct option is 3.
