Detailed Solution

A wire connected to a battery is connected to a potato that is cut in half. The wire is connected to the inner part of the potato. When electricity passes through the wire, a green colour appears on the potato.
When a wire connected to a battery is connected to a potato and electricity is passed through it, a greenish spot appears on the potato. This is due to the passage of electrons through the wire to the potato. The electrons travel from the negative terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the battery. The greenish spot appears on the positive terminal end of the wire. Therefore the flow of electrons through the wire causes the greenish spot on the potato.
