A wire is bent in the shape of a square. The side of the square so formed is 18 cm. The wire is re-bent in the form of a rectangle of width 11 cm. What is the length of the rectangle so formed?

Since the wire is bent in the shape of a square of side 18 cm, the length of the wire is the perimeter of the square of side 18 cm.

∴ Length of the wire = 4 × Side = 4 × 18 cm = 72 cm

This wire is re-bent in the form of a rectangle.

Therefore, the perimeter of the rectangle is 72 cm.

∴2 (Length + Breadth) = 72 cm

Sum of the length and breadth = 72 cm ÷ 2 = 36 cm

Breadth of the rectangle is given as 11 cm.

∴Length of the rectangle = 36 cm − 11 cm = 25 cm
