Zener breakdown voltage, $V_{z} = 10 V$

Voltage range $(V_{1} {to V}_{2})$ : 6V and 14V

Let resistance be R .

$P = V_{z} I_{z}$

$I_{z} = \frac{P}{V_{z}} = \frac{2}{10} = 0.2 A$

For safe operation of zener diode

$I_{Z} = I_{S} = 0.2$

$∴ V_{2} - V_{Z} = I_{S} R_{S}$

$\Rightarrow 14 - 10 = I_{S} R_{S}$

$\Rightarrow R_{S} = \frac{4}{0.2} = \frac{40}{2} = 20 Ω$
