(i) Time taken by car to cover from A to B and then from B to C = x40+x60 hr

Average speed from A to D(Distance/Time)

3xx40+x60

=36+8240

=3×24014

=51.4 kmph

(ii) Time taken by car to cover from A to B and then from B to C 

x40+x60

Average speed from A to C

=2xx40+x60

=23+2120

= 48 kmph
