Detailed Solution

According to a subsidiary alliance, Indian rulers were not allowed to have their independent armed forces. The East India Company introduced subsidiary alliances to acquire Indian countries. It was a political strategy pushed on the Indian kings. According to the subsidiary Alliance, Indian monarchs were not permitted to own armed troops. The firm guarded these locations, but the rulers had to pay for the subsidiary forces. The firm is believed to maintain subsidiary forces for protection. The business took their territory if the Indian kings could not pay for the forces. As part of the arrangement, the Nawab of Awadh was forced to hand over half of his territory in 1801.
