Detailed Solution

According to octet rule, a stable element is an element which achieves eight electrons in its outermost shell.
During the chemical reaction, atoms of all elements(except hydrogen) look to achieve or gain eight electrons in their outermost shell of an orbital. This is known as ‘octet rule’. By having a completely filled outermost shell elements achieve a stable electronic configuration and do not have a tendency to gain or lose electrons.
