According to the Equal Wages act, equal wages should be paid to equal work.
The Equal wages act of 1976 provides for the payment of equal wages to workers doing equal work without any discrimination on any grounds. In other words, it provides for the payment of equal salaries to both men and women working in equal jobs under similar or the same conditions. This act prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender, caste, colour, or creed in workplaces and the payment of wages to the workers. This act was added to the constitution to safeguard the interests of workers and for their welfare, especially for women workers who were paid less than men despite both working in similar jobs or the same conditions.
