Detailed Solution

According to the Constitution of India, the use of English for official purposes was to stop in 1965. Hindi and English were the country's official languages at the time of the commencement of the Constitution. It was decided that both languages would be used for all official purposes as people whose first language was not Hindi were uncomfortable with it being the only official language. Although a provision was specified according to which the use of English as an official language of India was to cease after 15 years of India's independence, i.e., in 1965. However, the Parliament could make amendments to this rule. Thus, through amendments, the use of the English language continues even today.
