Detailed Solution

According to the Indian Constitution, the use of the English language for official purposes stopped in 1965. Hindi and English were the official languages at the time of the commencement of the Indian Constitution. Hence it was determined that both languages could be used for all official purposes. Although, a provision specified that English as an official language of India would cease after 15 years, i.e.,1965, unless the Parliament determines acts upon it. The Parliament passed an Act to determine the continuance of English for official purposes along with Hindi.
