Detailed Solution

According to the Indus Water Treaty in 1960, India can use 20 per cent of the total water carried by the Indus. It is 2,880 km long and one of the largest river basins in the world, covering an area of about 11,65,000 square kilometres. India can also use the water from the western rivers for domestic, non-consumptive needs such as irrigation, storage, and electricity generation. Also, this river Indus flows through different states in India and Pakistan.
