Detailed Solution

The Act of Union has signed between England and Scotland. The act of union, which was signed between Britain and Scotland in 1707, formed the United Kingdom of Great Britain which allowed England to impose its influence on Scotland. Therefore, the English members dominated the British parliament. The unique culture of Scotland and the political institutions were being suppressed by the constant growth of the British identity. The Catholic clans which belonged to the Scottish Highlands had to suffer awful repression whenever they tried to assert their independence. The people who belonged to the Scottish Highlands were forbidden to speak their own language i.e. Gaelic language, they were not allowed to wear their national dress and a maximum number of people were forcefully driven off their livelihoods.
