Adding a spoonful of sugar to a cup of hot coffee produces an/a _____sugar solution.

Here, only a spoonful of sugar is added to the hot coffee, so 

• it gets dissolved
• the amount of solute is less and
• the solvent can easily dissolve it. 

If we add enough sugar to our coffee or tea, we can form a saturated solution. 

When the sugar stops dissolving, it means it has reached the saturation point. Hot tea or coffee allows much more sugar to be dissolved than you can add to a cold beverage.

Such solutions are called unsaturated solutions.
