Buds that arise at any part of the plant other than the leaf axils and apices of stem and its branches are called adventitious buds. In Bryophyllum, the adventitious buds arise from the notches of leaf margin and each one behaves as a vegetative propagule in vegetative reproduction. In potato, water hyacinth and Agave, the axillary buds of leaves or bracts (floral buds) are involved in vegetative propagation.
