Detailed Solution

Concept- Speed, distance and time are related each other by the formula: Question Image.
Since Bob is running constantly for 8 minutes per mile, in 50 minutes he covers Question Imagewhich is 6.25 miles.
The total distance of Bob is 3.25+6.25=9.5 miles
Half the distance he runs south, therefore he runs Question Imagemiles.
But, he covers 3.25 miles then he runs 4.75-3.25=1.5 miles.
Therefore he can run 1.5 miles farther south.
Hence, the correct option is 1.
