Detailed Solution

After independence, Sri Lanka witnessed the supremacy of the Sinhala-speaking community.
1)      The Sri Lankan government demonstrated Sinhala Dominance after independence. In 1956, an ordinance was passed that made Sinhala the only authorised language. It indicated that Tamil was no longer used.
2)      Governments have made policies that make it easier for Sinhala people to get jobs in the government and universities.
3)      The new Constitution says that the government must protect and promote Buddhism.
4)      Tamils thought that none of the major political parties led by Sinhala Buddhists cared about their language or culture.
5)      Because of this, tensions between the Sinhala and Tamil communities grew over time, and it didn't take long before a Civil War broke out.
6)      Most of Sri Lanka's Sinhalese live in the north, centre, south, and west.
