After the census of 2011, the literacy rate in India was found to have increased in comparison to the census of 1961. Every ten years, India conducts a census. Numerous things can be measured with it, including the proportion of men to women and the number of literate people. Only 15% of all girls and women and only 40% of all boys and men were literate in 1961, according to the census. These percentages increased to 82% for males and 65% for females in the most recent census, which was conducted in 2011. This indicates that a greater percentage of men and women are now literate and have completed some form of formal education.
